Anesthesia

At Kingsway Oral Surgery, we offer a variety of anesthetic solutions that are administered by your oral and maxillofacial surgeon, depending on the nature of the procedure, and the patient's risk profile. All forms of anesthesia are administered in-office by our surgeon, specially licensed in anesthesia. Below are a list of anesthesia options offered by our practice:

Local Anesthetic:

The patient remains totally conscious throughout the procedure. A local anesthetic is administered in the area where the surgery is to be performed via a syringe. Local anesthetic is used in conjunction with the other methods of anesthesia in all oral and maxillofacial surgery procedures. Typical applications include minor soft tissue procedures and simple tooth extractions.

Nitrous Oxide sedation:

Administered with local anesthetic, nitrous oxide and oxygen is administered through a nasal breathing apparatus, while the patient remains conscious in a relaxed state. Nitrous oxide is typically applied during removal of wisdom teeth or the placement of dental implants.

Hospital-based general anesthesia:

For more complex surgical procedures, a variety of anesthetics can be employed that allow the patient to fall asleep and lose consciousness for the duration of the surgery. The patient's vital signs, oxygen levels, and carbon dioxide levels are closely monitored throughout the procedure.
